Dell Latitude D600

Anyone know if it's an easy job to replace the keyboard on a Latitude D600?

I have a spare machine or two, so it's not the parts I need, just the method.

Easy...

****First remove Battery and pwr supply****

Open laptop and on right side of the panel where the power button sits, put a flat bladed screwdriver under the little lip (you'll see) and lift away the panel carefully by wiggling it and lifting at the same time. (Make sure screen is open fully and flat to the workbench when you do this)

Once the panel is removed you will see two screws holding the keyboard in place. Undo the screws and lift keyboard out enough so that you can lift off the ribbon cable that attaches itself to the motherboard and hey presto.

takes 5 minutes max.

It's traditional to put 14 back and lose the last one. I suggest putting it near to whatever your levering open then you can flick it when whatever you're levering open gives.

unsuspectingly magnetising your pen, have said screw attach itself and spend a wasted hour cursing and taking it all apart again to find that it was "there" all the time....

My D600 has about and inch of "play" on the screen when open, know any way of tightening this back up per chance ?

laptops are a nightmare Had to do a 2gb ram upgrade in a thinkpad last week i wouldnt bother if anyone asks you more hassle than its worth for the extra 512mb it gives you .. lol
