Demise Of McClaren SLR

Is this a sign of the times. McClaren makes the composite body for the SLR in Portsmouth, but a friend who no longer works on the site says they are laying off, and the site will be closed before too long, as an aside, his brother in law was working for Williams F1 until they started laying off big style. So all is not as rosey as we are led to believe.

Off Topic: There has been a recall on over a 1000 SLRs as there is a risk of the engine bay catching fire from a defective alternator when the engine temperature gets hot. Owners have been advised that if their vehicle suffers from the shut down of "non essential" electrical components i.e. the stereo or air con whilst driving then to immediately to stop the vehicle!!!

The Stealer ships are doing all the Recall work on the alternator…
