I am looking into buying a Denison Gateway 500 integration kit for my CD based Comand unit in a facelift CL W215 2003.

I'm looking to hide the ipod away in a storage compartment whilst it charges and select tracks from the steering wheel / main comand unit.

Does anyone know if

a) the Denison unit is any good for this

b) what limitations I may face e.g., not be able to see text on the Comand screen or would I have to lose the CD changer?

Any thoughts / advice appreciated?

Thanks

Sasha

I have this bit of kit and it is great. The track display is on the Comand screen (showing song title etc) and on the dash, it just shows the track no. (e.g. Track 1). As I understand it, MB's own version displays it the other way around. Personally, I prefer the display information on the Comand screen. Full steering wheel control.

As with all solutions for the iPod, it is still a bit fiddly selecting individual tracks or albums - seems best to to do by playlists. It might just be me though!

Mine is fitted into the glove box and there is a holder for the iPod. There is also a USB port. Only thing is there is a switch you need to flick in the glove box to switch between iPod use and the CD changer. For me it's not a problem as the CD changer is not used because I use the iPod anyway.

The Denison unit is excellent but I would speak to Alfie first at comandonline.co.uk he is the undisputed expert on this subject

Does your denison display video as well?

Sadly not.

I have a desnion 500 in mw W211. I was a bit dissapointed that at first I could not get the full text info for album or artist in either the command or the dash display, That was until I downloaded and installed the latest firmware for the MOST based unit.

now I get full control of my Iphone play lists and get the playlist/album title song and artist in both the command and the dash.

I have the iphone in the centre console next to the phone prewire, as you dont have to cut any holes and the cable runs are short. The dension Fits in behind the command up on the right hand side I also have the usb cable fitted so you can plug in a USB stick for the updates and also install any hard drive you like. This means you can have 1Tb of music on a £90 portable unit. Takes about an hour to install

I love it now. haven't used the cd changer for months.

Only thing I dont like is that the DVD player seems to be disabled whne in ipode mode. But a quick flick of swtich/power on/off the command and it comes back to life.

Dension Gateway 500 in W163

Hi,

Newbie here. Related question. Just bought an 04 ML270 CDi. It has COMAND. Going to get UHI + Linguatronic fitted. Was also inquiring about something for my iPOD (AUX?)... Was told, "There is no iPOD solution for the W163". Given that ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk states clearly that the Dension Gateway 500 is compatible, can anybody clarify whether it is in reality.... Thanks.

Separately, I had an ICELink in the E-Class. It always seemed to need a 25-minute warm up... How are people's experiences with the later generation of products?

Thanks

Regards
