Hi,

I have a 2003 SL500 which is fitted with the Dension Gateway 500 connected to my Ipod. I can use the steering wheel buttons to select tracks and control the volume etc.

The car doesn't have the telephone connection within the comand system and neither was the TV option purchased.

Here are the questions. Which is the best way to enable a hands free telephone to be installed (either wired or bluetooth) and is it possible to play video via the Ipod to the comand screen ?

Your suggestions gratefully received

Regards

Veggie

you can get a bluetooth module and AV module for the gateway 500, depending on the model of the 500. I have the bluetooth module but dont use it, as have a SAP unit. The Command will need tom have the TV option so that the av module can connect to it.

You can get an after market digital TV Tuner. Once installed TV will be enabled and you can connect. I have the same Comand as yours in my SL with a digital TV tuner.
There may be other AV options if you don't want t go down the TV route.
I have telephone pre wire so I utilise Viseeo MB-1000 for bluetooth.
You have several options for bluetooth. There's the Parrott route which works well but is not integrated with Comand. There's the instal of telephone pre wire which is quite expensive.
Yours must be a rare R230 if it does not have telephone pre-wire. Are you sure you do not have some sort of cradle in your front centre arm rest? Better be sure before exploring other options. If all else fails I can offer you a different kit. Its called Argos Integration Kit (AIK) and offers integrated bluetooth capability with Comand for cars without phone pre-wire. You use your Comand like it had telephone enabled from the factory. It worked very well with my W209 but I removed it before resale in September.

I'm pretty sure that the Bluetooth module for the GW500 is only for the MOST version

(because MOST can support multiple devices on one physical connection, so the GW500 MOST can be a CD changer, phone (and sound input for a/v) on 1 connection, but I dont think D2B supports that)

Richard

[Edit, and a 2003 SL is D2B, changed to MOST in MY2005]
