Lets say for example, I allowed something to press into a leather seat for a period of time and the leather deformed :-(

Is there a way, short of replacing the seat cover to kind of "iron out" the dent?

Ta!

Okay, so the material will gradually resume its shape as long as it isn't actually scarred...

Sounding good to me :)

How bad is it, and how long ago did it happen?

Mrs D put a baby seat in the back on my car which designed specifically for a Vauxhall. It had a sharp edge which slid into the crevice between the seat base and seat back. on a C-Class though there's a bucket shape which means the edge cuts into the seat.

With the weight of the seat, Jnr D, and the tightening of the belt it left a deep-ish crease, and I was gutted. After a week it has completed disappeared.

Well, I don't actually own the leather yet - but looking at a picture on the bay, I can see a dent in the passenger seat back....

Looks about a 10p diameter - just concerned about buying it and having a naff looking seat in the car!

Mind you one naff leather seat is probably better than the four Artico/Gothenburg seats I have now :D

If the leather has been stretched over time, I think your stuck with the dent

I've heard of people steaming them out with a steam iron......

Retrimmers use a heat gun to shrink the leather after they retrim old seats, so Id so with heat. Just try a hairdryer.

Just repeating what Aka$h has said. Heat gently with heat gun and they should disappear and fall back into shape, not too heavy though.

This occurs on my CLK rear seats: when they are folded down the seat belt buckles must press into them. The dents don't recover with time unfortunately. A really bad design.

A good tip is to rub baby lotion (I mean really massage it in) on the areas that you have the "dents". Wipe off all excess and then buff with dry cloth. I had a similar problem in a non merc that I owned. You would do best by first trying an inconspicuous corner towards the underside of your seat - just in case the baby lotion has an adverse effect. Alternatively you mat also try any dermalogical cream like e45. Good luck

I have just had my seats down for over 5 days, then read your post & unloaded car put seats up, yes lines in the leather, however over 2 days the lines have gone . Phew! car been out in the sun today& yesterday, so dont kow if that helped.

Think I will cover the belt clipsnext time though.
