Mercedes Benz like to talk about their range of Designo colours for both the bodywork and the interior. They talk about the hundreds of different colours that make up the Designo range but where is any reference to these colours?

YES, the E-class offers a few choices red, grey and is it white but is that 'hundreds' or more like three or possibly four? If I ask our dealer, I get a blank stare but I wonder what answer I would get if I lived up North in the lands of the mega rich football players?

Can anyone please steer me towards the Designo page that shows these 'hundreds' of colours?

That deed has been set :)

I cant answer your question John but its great to see you back here. 😀

Not from MB but some insight into their Designo Manufaktur program?

Not 100's of colours but possibly 100's of permutations?

Hi Alfie,
So nice to hear from you. The Linguatronic is still working perfectly :) :)

Thank you very much Whitenemesis, I just hope the words in your link will do the trick.

I have asked about metallic beige or champagne gold but they say neither are available and simply suggest a shade of blooming silver :( Nothing wrong silver :) :)

As Mercedes are concentrating on luxury, they have basically copied BMW's M Performance concept. Certain cars are available to order in Europe through the Center of Excellence, and can be configured any way you want them.

@glojo You can, on certain models order and spec them exactly as you want for a premium price of course. The dealer should refer you to this program, MBUK don't seem to like it as it cuts them out of the loop, hence why its not pushed. You can of course contact them directly.

Mercedes-Benz Center of Excellence.

If Mercedes really do want to cater to a luxury market then the bar has been set :)

Thank you very much for that link and an email has been sent :)

Hi,
My Local MB Dealer Southampton, have or at least use to have a corner of the showroom which was dedicated to the Designio options, it was a good few years ago now and i never took ,much notice of the two large display boards other than seeing all the different exterior paint and leather swatches.

I have written twice to that 'Centre of Excellence' and sadly nothing... Not a word

I have now contacted the Customer care or support number but.... The person I spoke to had never heard of designo options and thought it might be a third party offering to spray the car. Then I don't think they could understand why I would buy a car in Belgium.

I am hoping I have convinced then that I am not a time waster but I cannot help but wonder how knowledgeable these folks are and how interested they are in resolving an issue that is outside of their experience?

First off I hear that some dealerships use the RAC for their breakdown cover and now I have a customer support representative that had never heard of designo colours :) Okay, I am being a bit harsh on that person and I do not suppose this is a question that gets asked that often although the UK offer three or four external colours

I have just unearthed an old Designo booklet with some pull out colour charts. Don't know when its from but there are two options that might work for you. Designo Silver code 029 which is similar to Smoke Silver and Designo Chablis code 043 which is more goldish in hue. Both said to be available for the E-class at the time of printing. Might be of help but may be out of date now.
I understand that Mobilo breakdown is now contracted to the RAC but they may turn up in Mobilo branded vans

Hi GP,
You are a critter raising those two points but... It would be great if you could scan that Designo booklet, perhaps on a page that does not have silver :)

I am afraid that most folk have silver cars and I'm sorry but it does nothing for me or the boss :)

Mobilo..... We have just been discussing that topic on another thread and you will see from my post that our dealership still uses its own technicians. but YES, it would appear that a pecentage of this cover has now been contracted out to the RAC.

Hi Aletank
Thank you very much for that link and yes, I have seen that one but the gold is way to dark and is way OTT for what I am after.

I did have a cunning plan, but just like in Black Adder, my cunning plan did not get past the first hurdle.... I was thinking about something I think they call a 'wrap' but no....

If this works then the top row left to right is Chablis 043, Silver 029 and Mystic White 038. The brown on the second row is Havanna 042.

Thank you very much indeed GP801 After reading your list I found an image of an E-class. I take it those colours are Designo :)

Yes they are all Designo but I don't know how old they are. I suspect probably around 2005 so probably no longer available

Maybe not as a standard colour, but I suspect the Centre of Excellence will be happy to oblige.

I can only describe this Designo m'larky as an absolute joke!!

I have tried sending two emails to the Centre of Excellence that Bobby has highlighted.

No reply top either post

I have contacted Mercedes-Benz Customer Services and they simply refer me to the limited colours in the E-class UK brochure

I have contacted my local Mercedes Benz dealer and they think I am mad!!

I have pestered the sales-person in Belgium who had no idea but after much research, he has told me

We can order the collar citrine bruin magno MB 271 for a price of 6900,00 € excl taxes and I can give a longer delivery time between 7 – 8 weeks longer

Thanks but no thanks and where are the multiple choices offered by this so called Centre of Excellence

What do we call a 'bare metal' respray? I hear folks talking about this and to me it would mean what it says inside door panels, engine removed and all the underside etc etc

Don’t know if this helps but this is Designo Mystic Blue from 2013, which I believe is still a current colour. I’ve seen it on the S Class and SL
