Cleaned the car today ,had to do it myself as my guy is not allowed to due to lockdown
But he did give me some detailing spray to use after,
I've put this on and buffed it in , changed cloths to buff to a shine .
In some places it looks like I might have a smear or two.
Question is what cloths would or should be used to do this ?
I used those yellow soft ones

I only use micro fiber cloths, I hope your not referring to the 10 for a pound yellow clothes

As spider said, what towels are they? You may have over applied the Detailer, some can streak or smear, use a damp towel to wipe over then dry or add some more Detailer then buff it back

Why is he not working due to lockdown? He can’t work from home and working outside.

It's funny, Mate - I can't seem to find an open hand wash place in E4, but my Mates in Essex (Brentwood, Rochford, etc) re like "what you talking about? they all open here"... 😁

Even all the Jet Washes seem to be cordoned off here.

Different Covid culture, or local council/police enforcement maybe.

I finished up buying a foam lance for my pressure washer and some foam off Amazon last night.
Last time I washed my own car, the car was a Ford Escort! And it was wiv a bucket n sponge.

That said there's a 1000 car cleaning products now... I'm thinking I might get more into this DIY washing!

I presume they are , I've had them for a long while, still new can't even remember where they came from. They are nice and soft 🙁

This^

The natural thing is to over apply but what happens is the carriers evaporate off and you're left with the main ingredient dried on the panel causing the smearing, sort of like if you added salt to water the salt would seem to disappear until the water evaporated away.

It's a lot more common in the warmer months when the panels are hotter, as Lee said use a damp towel and if necessary lightly add some more.

He may have asthma or others in his household may be in vulnerable groups. Its not all about Boris.
Not working can be elective.

He told me he was reported for working from home something to do with people doing unnecessary journeys to and fro and him not being allowed to got to peoples houses🥺
All cocked up if you ask me
