Diagnostic kit

No official forum sponsors that I know of, but check the classified forum on here, second-hand iCarsoft ODBII scanners do come-up from sale from time to time.

Google "iCarsoft OBD Scanner's" and you will see what is available, what they are capable of scanning and price's etc. If you do go down this route, make sure that you buy from an iCarsoft recognized outlet, like UK Direct.....that way, you will get regular updates as they become available.
Update !!!
Just checked in the classified section, there is an iCarsoft MB 11 for sale, £80.00 , if you want to follow it up.

Thanks all I was thinking more of the MB Star Mercedes Xentry Diagnostics software with a C4 and C5 multiplexer

Great choice.... IMO if you have put money to your hobby, SDS is best way to do that. Too bad C4/C5 quality has gone down lately, I just bought mine and only time will show is it good or bad side of quality. My C3 has been lasted 10 years but many other things was far more durable back then...

I started with the iCarsoft MB11, which I found very useful, then upgraded to the iCarsoft MB CRO PRO, which in addition to being specialist MB, ( can be got for other makes too ) will cover a good range of other makes as well. So far I have used it on Skoda and Peugeot. Very happy with it.

You can't buy a new one because Mercedes Benz only sell them to garages, and not to private individuals (I know this because I tried to buy one).

You can buy a second hand one (from time to time a garage will buy a new one and sell the old one on eBay etc), but they are rare.

You can buy a cheap clone, which will have most feature working (the online bit requires an active subscription so will most probably not work), but it will be using pirated software and therefore we are not allowed to discuss this on here (the forum owners rightly looking to protect themselves against IPR law suits).

Hope this helps.

Be careful what you buy. It takes years to learn how to use it. It is often better value to pay an expert to diagnose issues. And its likely to be more accurate a diagnosis too.

Thats a very important point BlackC55, and one that I always mention if advising anyone thinking about getting an OBD reader. Like any tool, if used the wrong way, it can do serious damage. The iCarsoft MB 11 I found to be the right balance, for me at any rate. Does a good scan, and report, without allowing you to go too deep into the settings. The newer iCarsoft that I have gotten a few weeks ago, the MB CRO PRO, is a horse of an entirely different color...and I am using it very ( very ) carefully. I'd say it is capable of inflicting a mortal wound quite easily.

It is freaking me out so see hex code anywhere, immediately I know I don't have a clue what I am doing. 'Write to ecu' button waits like a trap there...
