Diagnostics for 2013 W204 diesel

I have a C220 Cdi Executive SE Blue Efficiency. I would like to invest in an OBD system that allows me to do all the tests. In particular reset the service light, schedule a DPF purge as well as the usual stuff. I also want to be able to look at other ECUs not just the engine.

I have tried MaxiECU. They said it should work but it really didn't, and anyway there newest models were 2011. I am awaiting a refund. The good people at Autel say they have a tool, but it currently does not do the two specific things I asked so who knows what other stuff it cannot do. I sent a question to AutoAid on eBay who advertise "Professional OBD-2 Car Diagnostic Scan Tool Fault Code Reader for Mercedes-Benz". So far no answer which does not look promising.

Has there been a fundamental change in the protocol since 2011? I have yet to find how to even reset the service light which seems a bit anti-competitive!

Any suggestions please?

Reset service light - Dont need a tool for that, easy, see youtube.

DPF Purge - Well thats not always possible even with star, its a long procedure.

Engine fault codes - Any scanner will provide basic codes.

Your best chance is buy a chinese Star System for 6-800 from ebay.

With W204's there are a lot of things you cannot do without being connected to Germany.

Thank you. I have now managed to get to the point where it wants details of the service so thanks very much for that. I obviously do not want to reset it for real until I have actually done the service!

So do the Chinese Star systems also have to contact Germany?

Just an update: AutoAid got back to me and made generally reassuring comments. It can do most things but not a DPF purge. One thing worries me and that is the program needs constant access to the internet. What happens if they go broke!
