I have always been fond of the original CLS and the Grand Edition models had some very attractive upgrades in terms of equipment In particular from my perspective the fitting of a memory function to both driver and passenger seats. There was also a significant increase in power from 221hp to 272 hp as well as additional Torque.
Looking around on Autotrader I found a decent-looking example that could well be a replacement for the E Class for a year or two before I start looking in earnest for a Bentley Continental Coupe.
The advertisement shows Grand Edition badges but lists it as 221 hp as do a number of online car checks. I know that many dealers are not exactly accurate with their descriptions but was just wanting to check. I have asked for the VIN to run a data card check but do not hold out much hope of receiving it and cannot find a way of obtaining the full VIN from the registration number
.
There are a couple of oddities with the car. It had an MOT in February this year and passed with a few advisories. It was then presented for test on September 23rd whereby it failed with 5 dangerous defects all relating to brake condition. The oddity here was there was only a 229 miles difference between the February pass and the dangerous fail in September.
It was presented for a new MOT on September 27th and passed without any advisories.
From what I can tell from the pictures it has the odd minor scuff and some of the wheels would benefit from refurbishment and the gap around both headlights looked a little odd but was symmetrical. Perhaps this is normal.
The link is below and comments are welcomed.
If I bought the CLS I might well keep the E 320CDi Sport for a while whilst fettling the CLS
There is also this one for sale, with lower mileage and slightly cheaper but with some odd faults!
I imagine that the warning light is a glow plug relay but why try to sell it with such an easily repairable fault and comedy rear springs?
