I gave them the old one's :D

Mine has climate so I guess thats why they were behind the glove box

Not the best photos as they are done on my phone

Unscrewed all philip head screws 2 at the roof of the glove box 2 at the bottom and some on the lip

Pulled out the glovebox

Slide the clip across to reveal the filters and remove them

Insert the new one's refit the glove box job done

Takes around 10 mins if that (if I can do it anyone can)

The old ones...........

The new ones I know I could have probably got them cheaper than at the dealer but at £19 they werent to bad

where did you get that spray from? I will get some of that how did you use it ?

Thats a great guide ESPC180 deffinatly one for the 'How To' section

I guess a 124 would have filters too if so, I really should change them...:o

what do they actually do?

clean the air entering the car methinks but not sure, also are they connected to the a/c ..and what benefit would i have changing mine on a w210. thanks

Nope, they're in the engine bay above the battery. Well they're there in a 2002 W203 estate.

correct, on W203 is in the engine bay, on W202/208 it's in the passenger footwell, see how to section:)

:-(

i found the charcoal filter at the bottom under the glove box (accessed by removing the plastic plate on underside from passenger footwell...

but i cant get the bloody drawer out!!! taken six screws out but its still held fast!

I did manage to get it out! Apparently 2plastic fins on too of the plastic bit of glovebox were catching it...
When I put the glove box back, I sliced off these 2 fins as with 6 screws it ain't goin nowhere anyways ;-)

Has replacement made any noticeable difference to the climate's performance?

No filters behind glove box in my case...
The filter in pax footwell is the only one. MB gave me the wrong filter. Have swapped that yesterday, so will get replaced today ;-)

getting the glove box out

Paul, I have an E290 W210 and I have a problem getting the glove box out. I have removed all the screws (6) and have disconnected the interior light but the box will not slidw out. It feels like there is still something holding out at the top. Any advice please?

Have you removed the heat/blow outlet on the transmission tunnel side? I think that could be why you can't remove it. Euh, sorry didn't read it was the glove box that was difficult getting out as thought it was the filter
