I never thought I am going to say this, but, I've learnt to like DM.
There was an interesting history between him and I, we did argue 'a bit', but in the general view of his contribution to this forum, this outweighs the the great cynic within him.
That obviously is my view and many will not agree
I have never met the man, but if I did, I would certainly not be the last one to shake his hand.

I can empathise with this as I have learnt a great deal from reading his posts and answers to members technical issues.
I just wish that if he finds a topic or opinions therein not to his liking then either he should not contribute or find a constructive way of voicing his opinion in such a way that the debate is changed or at least given a new perspective.

I agree with you on this one - though I can't say I've argued with him. I found his contributions very useful, time and time again.
That said (there's always a catch), I have met Sp!ke in person, and do trust his judgement. So, if he banned DM, there must have been a reason.
Either way, I do my best not to get involved in politics, physical or virtual

I don't know about anyone else but I freely admitted from the outset that I had no MB specific knowledge and wanted to learn. DM's posts, in the main, have been enlightening and useful.
I cannot reconcile that font of knowledge, sense and taste with the character who seemingly seeks out threads not his liking and does his utmost to sabotage them by demeaning members.
Well. I hope he is still reading the forum; I hope he comes back and contributes again.

I don't understand the policy of banning, what happened to free speech? Even if his comments are (hypothetically speaking) directly insulting, so what....that's a risk you take in life whenever you interact with another person. Grow up and deal with it.
