The difference i am referring to is the bodywork, from pictures ive seen the 400E wings look wider than that of a normal W124, as do the rear arches.
is this the case?
i was thinking that because the 400E is an american car it may be wider and have a wider track.

Not according to my references. The wheel arch inner lip may be rolled but otherwise standard??
beat me to it Nick.;)

The only model which had a difference in the bodywork was the 500E, the 420E, 400E, 300E and so on all remained the same. Mercedes gave Porsche the 500E and they are the ones who widened the wheel arches front and back, made engine tunings and suspension/brakes.

The 400E/420E/500E all had V8s which took up all the space in the engine compartment and because of the way that V8 engine was designed, there wasnt enough room for the steering coloumn to go in for a RHD so hence they only made them in LHD.

This is to my knowledge, if im wrong them in sorry :)

I think you're right !

However it obviously was do-able , given the time and money , witness the AMG hammer in RHD that was sold recently to a member on here ...

That had a 5.6 V8 in it ...

Im pretty much intreagued now to have a drive in this AMG Hammer...how much of an actual noticable difference is there between this Hammer and a E500? Do you think its justfiable for the difference in the price?

Ummmm ...

Being that there is only one RHD in the country and Talbir Bains ( a member on here ) owns it , i would say it would be unlikely you would get to drive one .... unless he lets you ;)

By all accounts it blows his E500 into the weeds .... E500 having 320bhp and the Hammer having 360bhp ...

The Hammer , when new was considerably more expensive than an E500 ( Hammer was over $100k in 1986 ) ....

Apparently still hits 60 in 5 seconds dead !!

But , you'd never be able to buy one as there were only 2 RHD's made ( Vlad , another member on here had the other but has sold it and it has gone abroad ) , you might be able to get hold of a LHD one but it would be big money ...

Talbir Bains.. wherever you are on this site and forum, respect for owning the only one in the UK!!! LOL

Renntech also made a 6 litre 600E version as well. Did Brabus do a 7.2 litre version as well or was that some guy who threw in the 7.2 lump into a W124?

I think he's working on a Renntech 6 litre one at the moment ....

Not sure about the 7.2 litre V12 one , think it was just a one off ....
