Guys

Just drove my brothers W203 C55, wow what an animal! What i want to know is what is the difference between my W210 E55 engine and his W203 C55 engine.

I was assuming the engines are the same but i do know it has the later W211 e55k gearbox but feels very more response then my w210 E55. Apart from the power to weight differences and the w203 being 10bhp more is there any other differences to make it more responsive?

Cheers

Not sure what difference if any there is between engines. However there is a re-set procedure to clear the memory of your driving style, this may help.

Power to weight is another possibility as the C will be lighter by some margin than the E.

The C55 was conservatively quoted at 367 BHP so its at least 20bhp more. Plus it is widely rumoured that these engines were nearer 400bhp in truth.

Why would MB underquote the power though?

And surely must be lots of rolling road tests to go on?

The differences won,t be major, it will only be the cams and ECU map, possibly different/redesigned inlet tract as well.
How do the torque values between these engines compare? just thinking if the E class engine sacrificed a bit of power for slightly increased torque due to it being heavier
I have the 367 BHP engine in mine and in appearance there is absolutly no difference.
The only way to tell diffinetively would be to compare the two engines on the EPC, to see what parts are different.
