Hi All,

Something that intrigued me while reading another thread.

Do cars designed by computer embody enough spare metal for a product of this type to work properly?

The reason I ask is that cars now have few water traps that can be "treated" by such products.

Sure, panels can be coated but given perforation warranty and galvanised bodies this is a bit like belt and braces.

Also, is it possible that the waxy juice will block drainage holes and contribute to a problem rather than being an actual solution?

Just my 2p worth :thumb:

well i painted one similar stuff onto my R107. after doing so, all drains were checked. i imagine whoever applies it should also check the drains AFTER the product is applied.

i agree that modern cars probably dont need it and i would suspect, apart from some owners 99% of modern cars dont get this treatment; (a) many wont need it due to what you mentioned and (b) people use them and then get a newer car and dont care about the long term issues.

imo this treatment is only idea on older cars that want to be kept nice.....

all IMHO of course and there are exceptions, but who on here who has a 1 year old W211 e class would bother and do you expect to ahve it in 10 years time..... i'd wager no is the popular answer, whereas the guy with the good condition 1990 Merc may well be interested in it.

Would using it on a new car infringe on the manufacturers body warranty?? I

Interesting points,

I think that the waxoyl product would be detrimental to most cars marketed since the early nineties... thinking that the F*!d Sierra was the first model to be designed expressly using computer aided design tools.

So, using a waxoyl product in newer vehicles without planning could have adverse effects on its corrosion protection...

I wouldnt use waxoyl on a modern car at all.

I have it on all my own cars though as i find that none have rusted on the underside/wheel arches since application.

We use this product at work on all our cars . We only started using Dinitrol about 1 year ago so i dont know how good it is yet . We used a different type before and we found that it worked well when used correctly . Dinitrol have 2 types that we use , one for new cars and another for older cars , it claims to have rust stopping additives . I used both types on my E after i got the rust repaired on the door tops and so far no rust has reappeared , although it has only been 3 months .

Well, I would use it on a car that was over 5 years old. I once owned a Vectra 2.0CDX, which I bought at 4 years old. I waxoyled it when I bought it and sold it to my step dad after about a year (wedding to finance). He still has it and it is very rust free, despite not being washed that often. Similar 2000 spec Vectras I have seen, are not quite so blemish free.

I would apply the stuff to a car that is over 5 years old, then repeat every could of years. Unfortunately, not all cars are built to the same high standards of the W124, so need a little top up in protection now and then :).
