dipstick for auto fluid

Just done 232,000 with a C180 petrol/manual and so pleased with it bought a C200 1999 petrol/auto. Trouble is there is no dipstick for the gearbox only a tamper proof cap. How do I check fluid level without having to go to a dealer? Do all my own service, repairs (not that I've done many of those being a Merc) and do not like paying just to check oil levels.
Any advice much appreciated.

Measuring Stick W1405891521/00 £32 available by order - usually 2 days delivery.
There is no restriction on you buying workshop tools despite what some stealers might say.
