Following a very interesting thread last night it became apparant that at least one member is not aware that you can use Directory Enquiries for FREE on the Internet.
BT frequently change their home page, but at present you will find the link in the bottom left corner of this site:
http://www.bt.com/index.jsp
Just select whether you want 'Find a Person' or 'Business'
It can be frustrating to use at first but once mastered it is very handy for 'lost friends' or the need for Christmas card addresses!!
I tend to use the asterik quite a lot and only put in rough details:
Robe*
Torquay
Will give you details of everyone whose surname begins with Robe------ No need for initials, BT will give details of everyone within the 01803 area who is NOT ex directory. The more details you give the tighter the search.
If you go above I believe ten names per day there might be a charge, otherwise it is a free service.
Good luck,
John
