Mercedes c250 cgi
Hi all, I have a 2011 c250 cgi with the 1.8 turbo petrol engine. 44000 miles
I recently changed the oil about 2000 mile ago.
Checked the dipstick on car today and I'm finding small specs of dirt/carbon like flakes on the dipstick.
Any ideas what this could be?
Car sounds/running ok

Probably just normal as the oil you used may have some strong detergents. You could give it a flush, filter and oil change again if really worried. Also use that time to open the old filter and have a rummage for debris.

If it is something more sinister? You are unlikely to discover what that is, until such time as something goes bang.

The oil in the sump has to pass through the pickup screen and then the filter before it gets to the engine bearings. It's messy in the extreme but I have sometimes cut the end caps off the filter and then stretched the filter media out into a long strip to look for any debris on the outer surface. You can do that initially without changing the oil at the cost of a new filter then if you find anything a flush might be in order.

Checked it again when engine was warm and there's no sign of any particles this time
