Both my wife and I are registered disabled. Mine is a lung disease and walking is not on for me. Seems a disabled person shouldnt be driving a Merecedes SLK according to some people. I was reversing out of a bay today. Had my disabled wife in the passenger seat. As it was a nice day I had the roof down. We were treated to abuse from another motorist who bawled out You dont look very disabled in that. Its times like that when I wish I was able to get out and shove thier teeth down their throats. I suppose we disabled should only be allowed to drive one of those old three wheeled trikes the government used to provide

Disgraceful. You would think that with all the awareness of disability (both visible and invisible) nowadays that this kind of thing would not happen. The other motorist does not deserve to be in the food chan!!!

You have no idea how much I can relate to this. I might PM you another day. no I wasn't the other driver by the way. I am on your team.

Punching them or not, you are 10 times the person they could ever wish to be. Rise above it my friend. They genuienly are not worth letting spoil your otherwise enjoyable day. Have a laugh with me at their ignorance.

Jim

Without wanting to excuse their rude behaviour in any way at all. How do you know it was abuse? It could be read as 'you look pretty cool in there!' as stated by a dullard.

I know sometimes some people just don't understand standard politeness. I was gardening with my brother (an odd chap) at my dad's house in a pretty peal district village a while back. He shouted out at a passing asian family some greeting or other that he had learned in arabic. He did it a few times as they were not acknowledging his bellowing. He honestly thought it meant he was relating and welcoming funny coloured strangers to the great outdoors. The poor people hurried on. I almost died of embarrassment.

Just a more positive interpretation of your experience.

They probably just didn't see your orange badge and were rightly expressing their disgust at the abuse of the disabled parking space. Had they seen the badge I'm sure they would not have said anything.

When I was chauffering my mum around during her chemo, the weapons of choice were her SL500, or my Audi S6. The car one drives has little to do with disability.

Sorry to hear this john925. As other have posted - Sod em!

Weather if forecast good for tomorrow. Top down and away you go.

Enjoy your day.

Your bigger than them in so many ways, they are simply jealous you have a nice car.

Very sad really but bite your lip and chin up :)

He wasnt in a position to see being at the back of the car. Just a nob head who put his mouth into gear before engaging his brain

Correct, not his position to give anyone abuse, until he had at least clarified the position...his wife was probably nagging him. See the bright side...he was having a ****ty day.:D

My dad has a disabled badge yet wont use it for this reason. He injured his back years ago and can't walk too far without being in pain.
If they felt that you were not disabled in some way, they should have reported your plate, that would be the sensible option.

It's highly annoying. Some people are very ignorant.

Sometimes I'll get out of the car (dark tints) and get the glare and the odd harumph, when I get my son's wheelchair out of the boot and him out of the back seat and wave at them they soon jog on.

Disability isn't about being able to park nearer the door, it's about not being able to walk that far or get on with life as you might like. I can't stand the ignorance of others...

Agreed, that's the best way to look at it.

You're in a soft top motor, enjoying the wind in the hair on a lovely day.

He's reduced to shouting abuse at someone who happens to be disabled.

Who's the real loser?

Sorry to hear that john925. The ignorance of people never fails to p*** me off!

Times like that you probably wish you had a magnum sat in your glovebox ready to pull out and point at their stupid **** faces! Sorry, but this kind of thing really gets to me! :(
