Does anyone know if it's possible to disable the alarm on the w210 (e240)? I'm going away for a month and don't want a flat battery when i come back. The hand book doesn't seem to explain things very clearly like how to turn off the volumetric sensor and tow away sensor.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you want to disable the alarm as you've already mentioned you can turn of the interior sensors and the tilt sensor by pressing the switch on the centre console that has a little icons of a towed car and the radiating waves.

If you want to save the battery because the car is going into long term storage then maybe you can disconnect the battery at the terminals. However, before doing this, make sure that your mechanical keys will operate the locks so you can actually get back into the car, on mine the locks are seized, so I never lock the car with the battery out.

Having said that, in the past I've had my car locked and fully alarmed for approximately 4 to 5 weeks and the car has started first time with no problems whatsoever.

Many thanks for the info until May 04 I had a 260E and left that at the airport for 4 and longer on many occasion with no problem on my return, although it was alarmed I did not use the system for those periods.
Now that I this E240 it is so different you just cannot lock manually as before.
I dont use the main Merc dealers for my service I go to Andrew Mcdonald At Abergavnny. With your info I will have a chat with him. Many thanks once again.

I have locked my previous W210 manually on a boat. Just open it with the drivers door only then lock drivers door and boot with the key. :)

All well and good if the mechanical keys actually work ;) bit of a bugger if the locks have seized. Maybe the later models of MB's are less prone to this but the facelift W202's with modern keys (DAS - Drive Authorisation System) are prone to have the mechanical locks seize up due to lack of use.
