A query...

I'm organising a stand for infoSec, and amongst other things want to have a laptop handy to allow people to sign-up to the rally.

That said, having been to infoSec a few times before, I want to ensure that the laptop doesn't have anything more than the bare minimum keys.

Hence, I want to disable CTRL, ALT, DEL, TAB, ESC, all the function keys, etc... basically, I just need SHIFT, the letters and the numbers.

I can connect a wired keyboard/screen - but short of glueing the keys; does anyone know of any software that sandboxes the user out? It still requires internet access (the form is on our website).

(and before anyone says it - yes, I do plan on wiping the machine just in case, both before and after)

You just need to install some 'kiosk software' there are plenty about, some are open source and free.

I think this is the one I've used in the past. http://openkiosk.sourceforge.net/

Alternatively have a look at Microsoft Steady State.

There is some freeware called KeyTweak that may serve your needs.

Although it has technical limitations it should do the job.

Didn't think of a live distro! Doh - it's perfect!

Thanks :) (now to dig out an old machine from somewhere)
