A guy I work with was asking me today if I knew about the possibility of disabling the passenger airbag in a W210 E320? I don't know the implications of this but he was just asking as to whether it was possible?

Can it be disabled with a key or something like many modern cars do or is it more complicated than that (or not possible?)

Anyone know?

Many Thanks :)

its all to do with transponders. I take it he wants to put a child seat in there?

Well , MB do child seats with transponders built into them.

indeed transponders, but, if it is for a child, i personally prefer to put my baby on the rear seat

I once saw a lady crash her car because she was looking at her baby while driving, car was total loss, luckily nobody got injured

Could you not just remove that part of the dashboard, unplug the airbag, and stick it in a box in the loft?

Or would the computer throw a wobbler?
