Disappointed with Conti sport contact 5

"Tyre Reviews " i have always found very informative :)

I changed to Contis from Hankook, ERROR :wallbash: Even from new the noise was shocking to the point that I was convinced of wheel bearing failure. The fronts had wear pattern problems towards the end, now on Dunlop Sport Max RT2 and they are so much better all round.
My current car came with one new Conti and 3 Pirellis and I was also convinced the wheel with the Conti had a failed bearing. After scrapping the Conti the noise has dissapeared.

I still don’t think 14k from a set of tyres on a 350CDI is that bad? :D

Powerful, torquey car... :)

I run MO Continentals on my E350 coupe and they are lasting very well and they grip very well.
They are however not the quietest tyre, but I've not got any real complaints with them.

Again, you mention "what the AA consider reasonable", I presume taken from this page: Tyre age | AA

Attempting to cover every possible type of car and usage in one single two-factor statement is so laughably generalised it's almost worthless. It does however explain some of the crazy notions people get in their heads.

Yes we are in agreement...

I must be absolutely crazy for expecting a set of tyres that cost £800 to last more than 15k on a car that wafts up and down the motorway and for writing a letter of complaint to Continental because my current tyres have only done 5k and have 4mm left on the tread.

Yeah! I guess so.

Just done this on a W204 C250 CDI Estate. Can’t believe how much it’s eating it’s rears. I’m going through them at a rate of more than a set a year. My old W204 estate with the C180 engine got around 18-20k on the same set.

That's what happens when you ask them to handle twice the amount of torque from 1600rpm.

That'll be the traffic light 'burnouts'....

99% of the driving is done by my wife. If you saw how she drives you would be as disappointed with the tyre life as me.
