Disaster, please help

Reply from MB dealer, looks like I'm stuffed

Thank you for contacting us regarding a new sam unit for your C180 Kompressor but unfortunately this is no longer available to order from Mercedes and has been discontinued. I’ve done a full dealer check of the UK which came up empty in the case. We are unable to check dealers abroad but in all honesty this isn’t a part that I can imagine anywhere to still have in stock as from what I can see it was discontinued a while back.

My best advice from here would be to check for a used unit at a breakers yard or somewhere online who might be selling one or look if there are any companies that could potentially repair your current unit.

Sorry we could not source what you require this time.

Thanks, so yeah I am seeing a few useds ones on ebay. I'm not sure but don't know if used ones need to be programmed too?

Assume you've already seen the only one for sale in UK on ebay?

I spent all morning, trying to trace this on ebay and face book
But hard to find this exact number match

Does it have to be this exact number??

There are a number of Mercedes Independant Specialists on the forum, I’m sure if you shared your issue with them they’d advise on whether the part can be repaired, or whether an alternative SAM can be used and retrofitted. They may also have access to an alternative parts provider with the part.

Item 150 shows several numbers for the part. If they all would plug and play I haven't a clue.
It also shows some still in production, again no clue as to how accurate the info is.

In your situation you may have to take a chance.

Fwiw, on the units I've bought 2nd hand for the 639 I've paid around £100.

I’d make sure it’s the same part number and try on eBay. If you have a good MB specialist around they may be able to source one or have one floating around.

Pressure washers on seams/welding/rivetting can wash away the protective wax layer.

Hi Everyone ,

The garage has removed the SAM unit and provided another number,
It's A 204 545 4401
Please see the pic enclosed within
Any advise with this new number and how is it different from the previous one (A2049005401) provided?
Did a basic google search and nothing much seems to come up

Thanks

I had a look, there seems to be loads of wires sticking out …
Another one popped up? It’s twice the cost. Do you think it’s worth going for this? Plus the seller has 3000+ feedback reviews
