Hey guys....

memes to replace the front and rear disc pads on my SL55 2003......

What would you recommend instead of genuine parts... what’s the next best replacement.

Thanks again

Regarding discs Pagid and Brembo are night and day , my last two sets were these .

Brembo is first place.

Anything OE pad wise is dust city .
Thanks

OP, as you are in Surrey have a chat with PCS in Horndean just at the bottom of the A3. They'll advise on the best alternatives to OEM and be able to supply and fit as well, highly recommended MB Specialist :thumb:

ATE all the way ; they are original equipment as fitted at the factory .

But is ATE's aftermarket offering the same as they supply to the factory?

The last set of dsics and pads I put on my C250cdi were Pagid, have used them a lot, but this set doesnt seem to be fairing so well. Quite scored and rusty for 10K miles and the pads are wearing faster than I thought. No sticky calipers or anything, I have rebuilt the front brakes.

Wonnder if I just got a bad set or their quality has dropped a little. The braking forces is still top notch though

Similar experience on another car , I strongly suspect that ECP has bought the OE side and cheaped out .

Before changing mine I had no idea what these dust monster pads were , Pagid..

Hey guys, first post! I have owned a 2013 C350 for a few months and had it re-mapped straight away. I am thinking of upgrading brakes and a friend suggested special racing pads, has anyone ever tried anything like this? Also considering remove cat, anyone done that?

Racing pads for road use isn't necessary. OEM pads are fine even with a remap.

Thanks for that mate, I do drive it pretty hard sometimes which is why my friend had suggested them, I'll check out reviews on OEM

I refitted my discs and pads front and back about two years ago.
Fitted Pagids - obtained from ECP.
I can't fault them .... As good as original equipment.
I remember being quite pleased with the price.

Vic, not sure why you would not want to go with OEM standard parts, there is a good chance they are Brembo anyway , Check the prices with MB first (can be surprisingly good sometimes) or just get ventilated cross drilled disc by Brembo. You should be able to get them for about £70 each, I Have them on my car (345mm standard OEM fit) For pads that are quiet and produce virtually zero dust Akebono carbon Ceramic are what I run, I personally bought them back from the USA but I believe they are becoming more widely available here in the UK.

'Racing' pads will not get to temperature on the road and might even perform worse than stock pads. And they usually give off a lot of dust

Indeed proper racing pads are for the upper temp range superiority and often are poor for street use .

Even Akebono can be a little off in this area .

I have Brembo on the rear and OE on the front but the front is dusty as heck.

I know fronts are naturally prone the be dusty as they take the brunt of braking with the weight of the engine and momentum of the car however they do get really bad more than i would expect with a weeks worth of light driving i.e. 15/20 minutes works and back again.

It'll be Brembo or Pagid all round next time for me.

^ Brembo on my E55 were just as dusty as OEM.
You need specific low dust pads or ceramic pads to reduce lots of brake dust.

Check out TRW low dust pads. The part numbers end in DTE for low dust.
