Hi Gents,

After a little bit of advise on our 2007/57 C Class.

It's the first problem since we've had the car (we've had it from brand new/60,000miles) so not bad going I guess but it is fitted with the Audio 20 CD Player which is playing up.

It has recently started stating "Disc Unreadable" and won't play CDs.

Does this mean the CD Unit is faulty and needs to be replaced? No warranty on the car so I'll have to source a second hand replacement if so.. However, I did read on the forum that it may need an update so I'm not sure on what to do next (Take it to Mercedes or buy a working unit off eBay/forum).

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Kaz

If you are using CDs which have worked previously and they are not scratched to fook, I would try cleaning it first using a CD lense cleaner.

You might just find the laser is dirty.

Hi buddy,

I tried a CD cleaner but it didn't play it so didn't clean it :S

Cheers

Firmware updates are availabe as free download from MB's website for some COMAND models - worth checking to see if yours is one of them.

But as said, if these are CDs that worked befoe in the same unit (and they are not scratched), then it is unlikely to be a firmware issue.

You could try removing the relevant fuse for a cold/hard boot.

Also, talk to Alfie and Richard at www.comandonline.co.uk, they should be able to advise and possibly help fix it.

Sorry, just re-read, you have Audio 20, not COMAND.

Is your car a W203 / S203 / CL203? If so I may have a working Audio 20 as replacement (if it came to that). It won't fit a W204 / S204 though.

Talk to Comand Online - these guys can fix anything....

hi mate
i had mb do an update on mine. if yours is the one with nav and dvd player etc it would be better getting mb to hav look and if they give u some daft pricing

get one off fleabay n retrofit, but then u might have to code it to your car.

Hi Kaz,

Was you able to resolve this problem? I have the same issue with my 2008 c class and can't find anyone to fix it.

Kay,
