Today my car started to squeak every time I go over a speed hump (plenty in London) or rough roads, and also loud squealing whenever I turn the steering wheel.

Seems to be coming from the front drivers side. :dk: Whats wrong?

Any ideas appreciated!

I doubt its a spring.

Pop it in next week if you like and we can have a look for you.

Well about 3 years ago when I was running a C220 I reported the same when my car when in for a service.....upshot was I had two broken rear springs:( Fortunately they were replaced under warranty. I did ask the stealer if this was common and was told there was a bad batch. Obviously this may not be the case with your car, I was just generalising. Mr prestige will no doubt advise and fix for a fee somewhat less that your local stealer!

More likely a dry bush.

Squealing when turning 'wheel, loose drive belt..

Olly

you make it sound like Im just down the road from you.

Will try to make some time to pop in!

What do you think it could be?

If it's a W211 then it's definitely not a broken front spring. If it was, the car would be slammed right on the floor on one corner.

This is because when the spring goes there's nothing to stop it. By that I mean it shoots down the leg leaving only the bottom turn held by the support collar.

I have been told by my local garage that my ball joints need replacing. How much should I be paying?

Hmmm.... Just got my estimate after they had a quick look under the car. Squeak from front suspension Ball joint worn osf. Requires lower arm Suspension arm £104.55 Labour £55 + VAT Is this about roght?
