i have AMG replica alloys 18x8.5j with 225/40/18 tyres (new on front) on my c270 cdi estate. I have a wobble on steering wheel @ 65-75 mph.All new suspension arms, track rod ends,a/r/b bushes&drop link ends fitted to both sides.Wheels balanced&tracking set correct.the inside rim of wheel is approx.5mm away from strut leg.do i need offset spacers fitting to wheel hub?The car had these wheels on when i bought car in july 07.

MB wheels are hubcentric, that means that a rebate in the wheel center fits over a flange on the car hub. If your wheels are not made for an MB you may never get them to balance correctly

If the wheels are hubcentric as TV says then try swapping the fronts with the rears to see if there's any difference. You may be able to establish an offending wheel.

I think I read a similar thread a bit ago. The problem turned out to be faulty wheels or tyres which were replaced by the supplier.

It doesn't sound like suspension problems with the work you've had done.
Borrow another set of wheels to see if the symptoms dissapear.

Do you know the offset of your existing wheels.

slacken bolts on a wheel. jack car up. remove bolts. check for vertical play of the wheel on the hub, or measure the centre bore diameter of the wheel at the back.
Is it larger than 66.5mm?

Diameter is 66mm.hub bearings had a bit of play but not what i thought was too excessive.Anyway,i tightend hub nuts up a little just so there is a fraction of vertical play,&i am pleased to report after a spin on the M1 the steering wheel vibration is no more.
