Do these wheels look like they stick out too much

Guys and Girls

Put my 18" Styling 2s on yesterday. Looks great however I am not sure about something. The front wheels stick too far 'out' of the arch in my opinion, but I am not sure if I am just seeing things. Would appreciate some comments, sorry for the crappy pics, it got dark and my car park lights are pants.

Wheel specs are as follows:

8j 18 ET31 with 225 40 18's

Not had the lowering springs fitted yet, don't want the wheels fouling the arches!

I reckon that they do stick out a bit. Its a very subjective thing though. Remember MB only fit 17in rims on a 202, maybe thats why.

The 17's look the same in my opinion - the clearance is very precise, so I think your 18's are fine. Look absolutely cracking to me.

Remember I quite like the plastic arch mouldings, and I guess they counter balance the AMG wheels and how close they come to the arch visually, but I expect you wont be having any put back on!

Beautiful - I don't think that they stick out at all. An inch past the guards would be sticking out to me.

Agree - they look fine .... is your wheel slightly turned in that picture anyway?

As long as they're not rubbing, I wouldn't worry.

hard to tell from a picture or three but they look OK from here - nice rims :D

Thanks for your comments guys (and girls) will sleep a little easier now!

I believe that wheels/tyres should not be visible from above. Otherwise it would be classed as an 'open wheel vehicle'. Farm tractors have an exemption for their front wheels but not the rears.

Have a look at this link, Section 18 External projections. Lots on info in column 3 refering to the vehicles body plan form.

Happy measuring !!

Beautiful alloys and they look fine (not liek excessively sticking out at all...).

Just make sure you get road salt off the chrome lips ASAP in the winter and the alloy in general.

I think the offset at the front should be 35,36 or 37. (Those are the specs of the various wheels that fit a C in the catalogue). So a 31 offset will be about 5mm further out than recommended. Does it track OK?

Hmm, I thought the E55 Alloys were 8j 18 ET 31 at the front and 9j 18 ET 35 at the back?

You didn't say it was an E. I assumed from your info it was a C.

Sorry, I have a habit of confusing things! I know for certain that the E55 alloys go straight on to the W202 C class, thats why I was refering to the E55. Just phoned Elite in Rainham and they confirmed that the wheels should be ET31 at the front and ET35 at the back. I am getting some scraping on the driver side front but that was the arch that got hit a couple of months ago. I had a quick look behind the arch and its not as 'straight' as it should be back there. Looks like a trip to the body shop to get them to finish of their work properly!

E55 alloys go straight on - no problem, they look fine to me on the pics, but i can check them out for you anyway as discussed!

when you lower they will slightly camber in (even after tracking) so should tuck under the arch nicely.

Nice one Alps, give you a buzz later on
