Do these wheels/tyres fit?? Read this first! Offset/fitment answers within..

Hi guys, I am new around here and I just got my first w211 in December. I don't know many things about it, yet.
So I've got a set of alloys from a friend(for free) J8, 18", I think thattheyare from an S Class. I plan to refurbish them and then to get some tyres....265/40/18 rear and 245/40/18 front.
Is this a good idea to do so?

Can I get some opinions from you guys? Please.

Thanks in advance.

How much can I stretch a 35 profile tyre on 19” 8.5j?
currently i have 255/35/19 installed but want something wider. And if you know of a garage chain that actually does things like it in Beds?

Do you want to stretch a narrower tyre or fit a wider tyre?

Stretch a narrower tyre to have a little A shape
For a while I ran 225/45 17 winter tyres on the 8.5j rear wheels on my C-Class. There’s a bit more sidewall there to play with, but it went on very easily and fitted fine.

I therefore wouldn’t be surprised if a 20mm narrower tyre would fit fine on your wheel easily, but I suspect you’ll looking for a stretched-to-the-max vibe.

I would try a specialist forum to be sure.

I have a set of wheels for bmw i know but they are 10j rear with 225,35,19 9j front with 215,35,19

Heya Lads
Was looking to get a refurb done on my R170 SLK230 wheels at a local tyre shop.

Was offered a set of W204 wheels at the time: 7.5Jx17 ET47 / 8.5Jx17 ET58
Tyres 225/45/R17, 245/40/R17

I know they are M14 wheels, so I'll need the bolts that are M12 for my hubs, but with the radius seat of the M14 ones right?
What about spacers to correct for that offset? Bolt shaft depth different?

Should I swerve and go with plan A (refurb)?

Cheers!

^Swerved them, I'm gonna refurb the originals. Offset on the W204 is too much for me, don't like the idea of it being that close to the suspension parts or using a giant spacer.

I am not looking for a complete maximum stretch. 225 will do for me but not many places like doing that especially with a 35 sidewall

Hello Chris, Hope you can help. I've got a C207 2012 E220 with the standard low profile
18 inch 235 / 40 R18 Y Fronts - 18 inch 255 / 35 R18 Y Rears
I find them very jarring over the badly maintained roads of Oxfordshire
What is the highest profile I can fit to get decent ride. Thanks

Afternoon all

I'm looking at options to try & get a wider rear tyres on my SL63, currently running 285x30x20's and want to increase to a 295, most garages suggest I need to move to 295x25x20 but when I compare on openeo looks OK

Anyone have experience of wider rears keeping the profile

Suggests on 6mm & within tolerance

Dropping the profile looks bad...

911 width rears don't fit either

Hi I am new to the Merc world, jUSt bought a 2007 R320 with low miles. I have been offered a set of 19" rims which are currently running 255/35/19 front 285/30/19 rear, am I ok to go with these tyres sizes or would folks recommend stepping up to the ones of the list at the top if the thread which are 19x8.5 255/50/19 and 19x9.5 285/45/19. I understand comfort will be reduced due to the new tyre size but I am more worried about diff and transfer box damage.

Thanks in advance.

hi everyone, I have recently joined the forum and was wondering if anyone could help me regarding my query about the tyre size on my E220 2015 model. I recently purchased from a private seller and all the tyres are 225/50/R17 whereas in the user manual and website link in this discussion says the recommended size is 245/45/R17. Could someone please let me know if this anomaly is ok or should I get all tyres replaced with 245/45/R17 ones? Thanks

Welcome to the forum :thumb:
Are the current alloys Mercedes OEM or aftermarket?

OEM, as you allude to, should have 245x45x17 fitted as standard on 8.5j wide wheels.
I suspect the previous owner was looking for more comfort, so chose a higher profile tyre.
If the size you have now is not recommended on the sticker inside the fuel flap, I'd look at getting the correct ones fitted.
225 is pretty narrow for an E class IMO.

Hmm .. I don't know if the alloys are mercedes or aftermarket .. but the seller said the car came with 225/50/R17 when he purchased it as new .. will see if I can get all replaced to standard 245/45

Take a wheel off and if its a genuine MB wheel it will have a Part# on the inside starting A*** *** **
It will also show the width (eg 8.5J) and the offset (ET) if its OEM.

I would change the tyres too. Too narrow for an E Class.

Hi im just wondering if these fit my w205 c63 ,especially the fronts as they are 255,35,20, also will I need spigot rings?

This website shows all the 20" OEM and Brabus wheels suitable for your Coupe.

Looking at the ET on the ones on eBay it shows ET30 which is 27mm closer to the wheel arch than recommended. I think you'd have problems fitting those.
