Do you need Michelin Pilot Super Sports?

I have a house in rural France, near Cognac, in the Charente, and things are fairly 'Traditional' there -part of its charm actually, but not entirely geared up for the 21st century.

As for the Calais tyre place, I had found it on a list of 9 tyre centres, all of whom stated they "Delivered to France" - hence my generalisation :)

Whereabouts are you? and where is this tyre centre you mention?

Thanks,
Robert

Hi Robert,

I'm 3 hours further south, in between Bergerac and Villeneuve-sur-Lot in the Lot et Garonne. There are a number of approved fitting centres but the one I use is:

Taquipneu - Expert Pneu été & hiver, et entretien auto

They do the fitting for the Top Marques specialist I use for servicing in Villeneuve.

They have a centre half an hour in each direction, have 4-wheel alignment and are careful with the split rims I have on the XK.

I don't buy my tyres through them, though - I trawl through the other suppliers: Pneus-online, Allopneus, 123pneus and Centralepneus - the latter being the cheapest at £391 delivered for the CL.

Hope that helps,

Stuart

Im on my third set if rainsport 3. They are exceptional in the wet and very good in the dry.

Many thanks Stuart

The Michelins are so much cheaper in France (unsurprisingly).

I will be flying (Ryan Air that is) down to Cognac in about 2 weeks time and probably driving back in our Volvo XC60 a week later.

If I can persuade my wife Jill, I foresee several Michelin PSS's on board!

Come to think of it, during the current chronic shortage, the import of PSS tyres could become a handy revenue stream?

Super Sports anyone? Place your order here!!

230 Km south of me. Perhaps a midway rendezvous for lunch, one sunny August day? Any excuse for a drive in the beautiful French countryside, particularly if there is the promise of a good meal at the end of it!

Best wishes :)
Robert

I have always had PSS on the CL, a great tyre IMO. You won't go far wrong with the PSS

Love the wheels Robert.

Thanks for the confirmation :)

I've suffered a crisis of confidence over the wheels, so I've raised a new post with the wheels shown here, and their 10 spoke cousins.

Oh, the agony of choice :-)

Hi Robert,

That would be good. The missus loves a day out ........ as long as it involves a nice meal!

We may be travelling up to meet some UK friends who are holidaying north of Cognac and their dates are 8th - 22nd August.

We may come in the XK, though! :fail

What dates are thinking of? Perhaps continue by p.m. to avoid disrupting the thread further?

Stuart

Yes definitely No 1 Robert.

Hey Pitts, sorry to tell you but the vossen wheels you are getting are flow formed not forged, it is the same process that forgestar use. It is a step forward from the regular cast, with some weight savings however the strength is not good for a Mercedes long term.

Vossen do have a full Forged wheel with the same design however they are £6k a set. I did a lot of research before buying the Carlssons.
