Cigarettes.

As a young teenager, the NSS newsagents in the precinct had a stand outside the shop containing State Express 555 cigarettes. They were readily accessible and the sample fags were free to try.

As a youngster, I used to steal the bullets from my Granddad's HILTI nail gun and let them off in the local pub car park by throwing bricks at them. BANG!

Bonfire Night.

Ripraps were a hoot to let off at the shops. Old ladies can dance quickly if you give them a nudge. :D:D:D

Bengal Matches. They came in different colours and would glow impressively. The sulphury smell they produced was great. :)

Collecting lemonade bottles to get the (IIRC) 3d deposit back , and taking them into the sweet shop in exchange for sweets .

I think my local cinema still accepted them for admission too , but I never did that .

Climbing trees.

I used to take my dads hammer and a handful of 6" nails down the woods and knock them into trees and see how high I could climb. I was only 11ish.

The Polaroid camera.

Spooky you should mention that. I was in our loft yesterday and opened a box. In there was a Polaroid I don't even remember we had. It's huge. :fail

The Polaroid camera.

Still have one ... somewhere .

Also had Polaroid backs for a couple of medium format cameras

Ahh, but with digital technology the need for negatives has diminished to nearly nothing. Even professional photographers are switching to digital format.

We had a camera shoot for some of our machines, and the photographer was able to view each image and dispose of those that failed to meet his approval. He was also able to determine the best angle for the shoot based on real and artificial lighting. All this with no wasted film.

I never took to them , much prefer listening to records , although I do have 2x 10 disc changers in each of my cars .

Before Instant Credit, if you wanted to borrow money from the bank, you had to see the Bank Manager and have an interview.
