Ever have fellow MB'ers acknowledge you on the road?

The other day, some chap in a rather fly SLK lifted his thumb (think it was his thumb) from the steering wheel as we passed.

I was so taken aback that I couldn't react

No, just when passing on the road. If an MB drivers gives way to me I signal my thanks, as you would.

The only car I have ever driven where owners do give acknowledgement to others in a similar car was when I had my Lotus Elan.

TVR drivers wave as do, believe it or not, Rolls Phantom drivers. I tend to smile if I see a nice older Merc on the road but I have never been waved at in the MB

When my wife had her Elise, every other Elise driver used to wave! Also had it when I owned a VW Camper many moons ago.

Bikers almost always acknowledge each other.

In my mk2 golf yes, and the Z3 but not a merc, too common! :D

I wave "bye bye" as I leave them standing! :D

My wife is often waved-flashed to in her Smart car.
Sometimes her waves in reply are do frantic she forgets to steer...........oh the shame!
I'm happier with a simple raised hand to acknowledge.

Gots to be honest,

I don't think I would wave out as it were to every car, but it astonished me that this chappy in a SLK acknowledged me..

Mebbe he really likes CLK's.... or the sport(ier) MB models

:D

We get flashed by Smarties too. The missus loves it

We get flashed .... The missus loves it

the original quote was too good not to "adapt" slightly :D (Coat fetching time methinks)

I normally get a finger from small car drivers as I pass them! but sometimes on a busy road when trying too pull out, over drivers wont let you but MB ones tend too

Most CE drivers I pass are retired and miserable. Most CE convertible drivers are respectable looking women, and it doesn't feel appropriate to flash at....

Not elite enough I guess. A Maybach and I'm sure one would entertain that sort of road etiquette out of sheer decency.

Not in my 190, but I've only had it about 1 month and 40 miles so far.

But when I had an MX5 and long before that an X1/9, waving was inevitable. Hard to flash quickly with pop-ups (actually, it was hard to get anything electrical to work on that X1/9).

By the time one instructs one's chauffeur to wave an acknowledgement its too late regrettably. One did think of rigging up a pulley/rope system attached to his arm but the glass partition gets in one's way. :(

p.s I always give fellow W124 owners a wave but am usually met with a slightly puzzled expression.

Not in the merc, but definitely in the mk2 golf, and even inthe Z3! :D

Have had it a couple of times.

Must admit when I had the SEL and the SL I used to get quite a lot of waves.

Im the Caddy and the Smart I do get waves. I find it a bit cringeworthy.

Apparently Smarts get waved at all the time, but NEVER when I'm driving mine. I can only assume the oncoming Smart drivers figure out I'm not in my heart of hearts a Smart person (in any sense).

I don't wave at other Mercs when I'm in the CLK as I'd never have any hands on wheel. Our cars are great but Mercedes-Benz is not exactly a low volume manufacturer these days - they are oodles of them on the road!
