not a vary exciting question but I'd apreciate a solution for any of the word guru's out there..

I 'm trying to format a doccument first page has got to start 8.5cm down the page, (to allow for printed headed paper)

all other following pages(plain paper should start 2,5 cms down the page.

I'm using Word 2003.

It shouldn't be too difficult to set this up as an option but so far no luck!

Steve

Surely you can set the default at 2.5 and on the first page space down to where you want.

You might be able to do it by setting a false header on the first page.

Go into page set up, then select the layout tab then part way down you have the option for a diff header on the first page.

That might work.

I am sure you can apply margin sizes to "this page only" or "whole document"?

you can do it for whole document, this point forward or this page only - but it can get a bit twitchy as you're working through

These are for Word 2000 btw ;)

Thanks for the suggestions so far

it works ok for individual doccuments but I'm trying to set it as the default setting.....

You can make a Template (dot document) and put in whatever stipulations you want. Just make sure you save the template with a name other than 'normal.dot'

Good luck,
John
