I got the idea for this thread after reading some of THIS thread from Pistonheads, which will take some beating!

What have you?

Went to college with this lad who used to tell us how he (the night before) drove a car into someone's living room as the person owned him £100. We were like, cool story bro and took it with a pinch of salt.

Years later a mate of mine who was in the same college sent me a link to a BBC news story. Turns out this lad had brutally murdered and OAP in her home for 50 quid, to buy drugs. Apparently he had done something similar 10 years earlier but only got 10 years for it. Horrific.

:eek::eek:

I know someone that got 15 years for accidentally killing a guy with a piece of sandpaper.

A real tragedy. He only meant to rough him up a bit.

My brother, he is the most crooked disreputable person I've ever known and I've known a few dodgy types. He steals and cheats people (including friends and family) as if it is normal but sits in the front row at church!

I know(well more knew) loads of dodgy people, don't know how, but its generally through work.
Most are local 'gangsters' involved in allsorts.
A few have been in books and a few have been in documentaries/films.

A very very close friend of mine, used to show up in cosworths, ferrari, lotus carlton, ford escort rs turbos, brooklands capri, rolls royce, bentley etc many decades ago.......

Ironically on the day he took his life i was on my way to Bluewater and there was a huge tail back at the crossing, little did i know it was my pal................

Could divulge a lot more but lets leave it there, still in touch with some of his "Mates" they can be handy folks to know.........

Years ago my mate "Dodger" :) He had a contact (his mother I believe !) who worked in distribution for a well known catalogue chain. You texted him the 8 digit code from the catalogue and poof 3 days later the item appeared on your doorstep for exactly half the price. Got caught in a completely random way that had nothing to do with his nefarious activities and ended up getting 3 years.

My next door neighbour a car dealer got 10 years for importing cocaine.

We don't have time to define 'dodgy' and 'known' . to some people dodgy might refer to someone scamming the 'lekky meter , to others they might think that is a despicable crime..

I know a few 'dodgy' blokes (always seems to be blokes) The most extreme would be 'R' , he is a fair bit older than me and was in the 1st reconnaissance commando (rekkies's) in the South African Defence force...except from what he told (and showed) me attack , not defence was his first line of defence.

Some pretty lawless $hit went down in the mid 70's , deep in the African bush, when no one was looking and he was in the thick of it.

Was (is) he 'dodgy' ? he was following orders at the time ..........

Thankyou BJ off you go!!!! #10
There'll be a "Heavy" popping in to see you soon! 😇

Not before 16.30hr, we'll be off looking for a tree to buy for the rear of the estate.
I suggested to SWMBO that this may be breaking lockdown rules, but, apparently, the tree is for her mental wellbeing (whatever the hell that is), so we are allowed to go . . . . . . . .hmmm

Note;
Does your heavy take tea or coffee with his home made scones?

My wife’s ex husband.
Was head of Technical Publications at the Jag, and set up a scheme where translations were farmed out and overpriced - he got a very large cut - over £300,000 back in the early nineties.
Once he was found out he started a new business with a local (Coventry) night club owner and ‘businessman’, who he promptly ripped off and did a runner leaving his then wife pretty much destitute and forced out of their very nice home, breaking into ad stealing their Mercedes estate (found out of petrol on the M5)
He got three years for fraud and was then a constant pain in my life, trying to pass his debts on to us, not paying maintenance of any kind and generally being obnoxious around his share of looking after the kids.
Lots and lots of stories about him, but I found out about a year ago that he had drunk himself to death.
His final act of betrayal was that he left all of his money (his mother had left him a very good sum) to his brother who he could not stand, rather than to his two daughters who have always seen me as their father.
A thoroughly nasty, dodgy man.

Is Bertie Bassett one of them?!😉😁

Looking back, I tend not to get involved nor raise my eye brows about acts of villanery .
But in Caracas where lived and have a business (now mothballed) I would contract out some work to local busineses like those run by Columbians.
One body shop had a "watcheeman" and his large young family living on the premises.
One day the parents simply disapeared leaving the kids to fend for themselves.
I ended up getting the shop owner to feed these kids with a weekly stipend of a few boliveres .
Making a few inquiries I even ended up flying to Cartagena, and hunted down a distant relative.
No joy on that scoop.
Then listening by eaves dropping to gossip in the same shop I discovered that a Gov intermediary I knew was involved in grooming & selling of young girls into prostitution rings.
He had planned designs on this group of kids, even murdering the boys if they became a problem.
This troubled me deeply.

In the end it worked out!
Act of God perhaps ,I dunno.
I was sat on a bench thinking this all through in El Hatillo in the late afternoon drinking a beer, listening to the church bells in Plaza Bolivar and got into a conversation with the local curate from the church.
To cut along story short I bribed the church $1500 (shame on me) to take the kids to an orphanage in Merida.
In short they disappeared in night as well with some nuns & a priest
Problem solved! phew !
Gracia a Dios.
