Dodgy? Dishonest?

OFT called back, took all the details and said that this was a police matter and they would pass it on.
Also took my name, address, postcode, phone number, DoB and asked if I knew the seller etc.

I can't disagree there. No doubt a little digging into this person's affairs will uncover all sorts of interesting matters.

I think that's the bit of the job I enjoy most- Getting a snippet of information. You make a few database checks, which adds weight to it and leads in all sorts of directions...:bannana:

Like last year. Information log comes in about someone at a place of work, with a £30,000 stolen 4x4 in their possession. It turned out that the info had come in before but never been checked out. Went there, found the vehicle. Spoke to chap, who produced keys and uttered the best unsolicited statement I have ever heard... "I bought it for £1500 off a man in a car park". Car recovered, and needless to say, after a chat with his legal adviser a full admission was tendered.

Lets you do a bit of positive policing for a change rather than listening to the legions of non-taxpayers who is bein 'arassed!

Seller is not adding the details, only stamps, which may well be the sort often sold on ebay which are obvious fakes.

It's all a waste of time, and there will be no wip numbers to back up any of the fake stamps.

Indeed, but it would still trick the unwary. they are also a clockers and ringers dream:mad:

But often buyers aren't aware that it is on a central computer:( When looking at a car for sale, people will often look at the paperwork in front of them and believe that. We are lucky, we are fortunate to have either learned from our mistakes or to be part of a forum such as this where this information is freely available.

eta - so with regard to this blank cheque of a service record, it's basically one crook selling to another:mad:
