Looks great in my eyes, has it been previously discussed?

Mercedes 450SEL 1975 W116 | eBay

What are these cars like as an ownership proposition. I'm not hands-on as such so would be reliant on a decent indie for general maintenance? Are many parts now NLA, trim especially?

Plus it will be living outside

That is really lovely, Dad had ones quite a few years back the only problem he ever had was a Boot light bulb blow lol

Rust is a issue as they are getting on but that one looks cracking :)

The 6.9 engine on this car can only be worked upon by someone that has a lot of experience with this unit, and those people are rare and far between. and that means joining the official Mercedes Benz Owners club and sourcing info from there.

They would be the best people to put you in the direction of a specialist and also give you advice, as there are several owners in that club that have vehicles with this engine fitted and also several owners that own this model.

Thanks chaps - it's actually a 4.5, just badged as a 6.9

That's a beauty. 116's bring back fond memories of my youth, days out in the summer with my father at the wheel, my siblings in the back, standing with trying to stick our heads out of the sunroof.

Better to be outside where it can dry off than inside where it can't ?

Agree from a UV damage perspective, a garaged car would normally have much better condition trim and plastics

Awful wheels and wrong suspension height.

And "KNG 450" doesn't (and never will) spell "King 450".

Lovely car, looks superb.

Part of the attraction to me (except for the number plate)

Number plate doesn't show up in the Dvla or the mot check history site - why would that be?

Can anyone hazard a guess as to the 'hole' on the driver side wing, in line with the scuttle ? What could have been fitted there, as the ad mentions new wings fitted in 2014 so ?

*slowly claps* :D

It may be a recent import as only 1 years MOT showing up. It failed due to lack of windscreen washer fluid

Where did you find the mot info please? I searched kig450 on the check mot history site, it couldn't find it?

Try kig 450.

Wondering if it's a fairly recent plate change - have asked seller the question

At first glance that looks a peach but I'd have some reservations.

Anyway, if it's good as it looks it would be worth changing the wheels to hubcaps, remove the silly badge and fit a period number plate.

Eyes wide open buying this car, me thinks.
