Hi all!

The alignment of my hood and headlights has been bothering me for a bit. Does the E63 (I have a 2015 wagon) come with the active bonnet system?

Mine certainly doesn't seem to have it??

Thanks!

No (on the W/S212).
Thanks! That clarifies things a bit.

Reason this has come up is that I find that the hood sits a little high from headlights (or the headlights sit a bit lower than the hood line).

I keep comparing mine to other face-lifted W212s and the headlight gaps always look way better.

Kinda has me a bit worried now but since buying the car it has seen 2 specialists twice (post purchase inspection) and last service was at Mercedes in Guildford. If there was something untoward they would have picked that up for sure?

Is the gap twixt the top of the wings and the bonnet even from front to back and similar on each side? If so, I'd suggest that all is OK.

Any photos that you could post up to show the gap lines from the front and side?

Did you carry out any pre purchase checks for recorded accident damage etc?

From a US forum - seems to suggest that it's not that uncommon and with pointers towards fixing it.

There definitely an adjustment slot for rolling the bumper forward and backwards and a wheelie for up and down.

I remember watching this awesome video, the adjustment is shown at about 9:30 mark 👍

Oh my god...amazing! That is totally it. To be fair, the gap between the top of his headlights and leading edge of bonnet is pretty similar to mine. And yes I did carry out a carvertical check on her before buying. I've had a pretty good look at everything (I'm highly OCD) and there's nothing to suggest an impact. The bumper pitting is also consistent with the mileage IMHO. I guess it must have just got misaligned at some point. Maybe a part was replaced behind the bumper?
