Took my car for a blast yesterday and noticed that when flooring it from second, in order to hit redline, and exhaust now snaps quite loudly, almost like a clap. Pretty sure if didn't used to do that....had it a year now.

Am I imagining it? Sounded bloody marvelous!

I wouldn't have thought it would change that much in the space of a year, so I'd suggest it was a hot pipe with unburnt fuel igniting to give you after-fire.

Might you take it as a warning sound ? never heard it before now it's there ? As mentioned , un burnt fuel igniting inside the exhaust system instead of the cylinder ? Might sound great but it could be a potential fuelling/ignition timing issue , especially as the sound is new to you but you have had the car for a year.

Only difference is from cold (i.e. startup) to when the car is warmed up

You get a nice whip crack type sound on up or down shift after/during driving it harder. During commuting I don't get the same sounds for the same given revs/gearshifts.

I'd say this is normal and you've just noticed it for the first time.

It is more noticeable in S+
