Hi All,

I am new to the forum and also to Merc Ownership, I am used to servicing my own cars not only because it saves money but also get a sense of satisfaction from it (sad i know).

I have recently bought a CLK 320 w208, its due for an A Service, or so the on board compter is telling me. I have had a look at the A service schedule and apart from Filter and oil changes everything else they do is visual inspection.

Really just wanted to know if Merc at an A service tune the engine or adjust the engine management system in any way.

If not I am happy to change the fluids and filters my self and save a few bob.

Any help on this matter will be much appreciated.

There is no tuning involved as it has a electronic ignition system.

BlackC55, Thanks For the sepeedy response.
is there anything they would do during an A service that i couldent do at home with a standard set of tools. Apart from resetting the service light that is.

What about checking and removing fault codes, is that somthing Merc service would normally do, no faults flash up on the dilpay at the moment.

plugging it in in not part of the service.

You CAN re-set the light yourself. Look in the hand book.

Thans again!

I only have the Owners manual, is that the hand book you are refering to? I dont belive the procedure is given in this.

Mine is a CLK 320 2002 model. would apretiate if any one can provide instructions on how to reset the service light. :O)

Do a search on here. it has been covered many times.

Here is page 111 from the owners manual/handbook on resetting service indicator

Sorry for ignorance but what is FSS

does this procedure work if you have the ASSYST sytem on the vehicle, i.e, will it always by default restet the interval to 10,000 miles even is you have not changed th eoil or compleated a service?

FSS is Flexible Service System.
