Does the W168 A-Class have a lights on buzzer?

As daft as it may seem the 53 A140 SE Classic does not make any noise when you leave the lights on.

Is this a "feature", or is it broken...

Advice much appreciated.

I "think" my previous 2006 one did have one but my 2008 does not, quite. I'll explain. If I leave the side lights then a buzzer goes to remind me, if I leave the side plus headlights on then there is no buzzer but, after a couple of minutes after the doors are locked the lights go out automatically even though the switch is still on.

My wife's 2004 A160CDI Avantgarde has it, think it's identical to my E class.

However it doesn't stop her turning the switch past the 'off position' and leaving parking lights on! But I can't really complain, I had an old Polo as my first car (£100 bargain - a long long time ago ) and used to do the same with that (think it was activated by the indicator stalk). Is it only German cars that have them?
