If I half open the roof on my CLK convertible does it create problems?

I ask because I did just that 2 weeks ago, then the roof would not come back up.....I had to put it fully down, and then it took hours before it would go back up.

I wouldn't drive it with it half open , airflow might damage it.

    Hi Howard.

I dont think I was very clear!

I half opened the roof to clean the rear window, and it was probably like that for 30 mins.

Then when I went to put the roof fully up, it wouldnt go. So I fully put the roof down with no problems, but then when I tried to put it back up, it said go the workshop. It continued to do this, so I went for a drive (it was still fully open) and after a while (30 mins) I stopped and then it all worked!

It has been fine since, but I just wondered if it was due to having it half open for a while I cleaned it.

    Low battery?

Not a wizard on these but it does seem like something similar, especially if it's OK now.

    I think Daves correct.

Maybe the sensors just had a mad 5 minutes because it was halfway open for so long.

I had something very similar on my A208 when I stopped the roof part way to clean the rear window (as I have done many times on the SLK without issue). Scared me, and I stopped doing it.
Did similar on the 209 last week - to lube the mechanism and had no problems at all..
