I suspect the mesh roller guard that pulls up from the load cover on my estate is NOT a satisfactory dog guard, our poodle pup can sneak round the gap at the side.

Before investigating proper metal guards, does anyone know if the proper merc half-height one leaves any lasting damage to the car when fitted?

Currently she travels in a mesh dog-crate but it would be nice to just fit a boot liner and let her jump-in and have a wee bit more space

don't buy halfords adjustable ones, they don't fit. Tried one fortunately they took it back

Sorry wasn't paying attention. I didn't need to look any further as my Spaniels didn't try to get past the roller guard.

No it should not cause any permanent damage.

There is a company that specialise in dog gaurds called Travall, they manufacture most of Land Rovers aftermarket add ons, so good quality stuff, and order online.

I have had the genuine MB dog guard in my 203 estate since I've owned it. I take it out very occasionally when transporting large items and there is no damage. From memory it was about £150. Usual German over-engineering as I'm sure it would contain a pack of half starved Alsatian dogs!
