A friend has texted me to say that this museum is closing.
Does anyone have any further information?

That’s such a shame. I must try to squeeze in a trip before it’s too late.

Yes, It's a shame it is to close.
I haven't been in the museum for many years, but it did have a profound effect on my attitude to motorsport.
The cars on display were all interesting in their own way, but the thing which lived with me after the visit was a crumpled piece of aluminium resting against the far wall which turned out to be the remains of David Purley's F1 car.
We were all running cars with aluminium monocoques at that time and it kick started me into building not only quicker, but safer racing cars.
After the 2nd world war racing cars were safe, as you could have fun and there wasn't even anyone shooting at you.....
Times and attitudes as to what is 'safe' change. I'm just glad to have played a small part in making the sport safer through technology.
