Just a reminder to check for new quotes at insurance renewel time.
Esure quoted me 360 renewal but I got so annoyed at the endless security questions when I was trying to pay that I checked alternates with confused.com and saved 140-pounds going with Privilige.

I think they all quote lower for new business than rewarding loyalty

My bike insurance is up for renewel next week , the qoute came in from carol nash , they wanted 1200 euro . I phoned them and got the qoute down to 750 euro , I was still not happy about this so a tried a different company and got qouted 450 euro . I got great plesure telling carol nash where to go with there qoute , ha ha

Sound advice I'd agree with

Saying that, I tried money supermarket & Direct line and Esure were still the cheapest AND still the same price as renewal.

Might have been a fluke?

Renewal is in 1 week, but given they are about to shell out a fair wad on repairing the merc I wasn't thinking of going elsewhere, I will renew and see what job they do - then decide for next year.

Always shop around on car insurance these days, even if only to nudge your current insurer south a bit

Always shop around, then play them off against each other until no one will give you a lower quote - don't feel embarrased to haggle with them.

Got my MB insured for £220, down from my previous quote of £340.

Still can't believe that my missus car (1.0 Kia Picanto) costs £153, and that's the best I could get - believe me, I tried everywhere.

I used to have to change quite often due to the renewal price being higher. The insurance companies reel you in at first and then get it back the next year.

I once had a renewal in the post from MORE THAN (who are excellent) for £315 for my omega. I went on line and insured it for £286 with MORE THAN!

When I spoke with them on the phone I said I'd had a cheaper quote and insured my car already. "Who was that with sir" I replied "YOU":bannana:

I added Mrs Ringway to my 3.0 Omega as a learner driver last month with MORE THAN. The cost was ZILCH:bannana:

Amazing..

Watch the excess

A colleague added his daughter to his policy as a learner at no cost. But when she passed her test and actually had a full licence the insurance company then wanted an obscene amount of money to add her as a second driver.

There are some pretty generous cashback offers from many car insurance companies available through quidco!!

E.g. More Than £68, Zurich £80, Co-Op £65

When I was doing my research, one insurer (IIRC Bell/Admiral) actually reduced my premium for adding my L plate wife despite the fact that I have 6 years no claims.

My insurer came in with the cheapest quote at renewal....didn't stop me negotiating a bit more off though..

As a learner she is accompanied - but once passed she could be out in the car with her friends etc and therefore poses a higher risk....

Normally I would agree with you, but last renewal time my quote from the AA came in at nearly £600 higher than my directline renewal quote...

the time before that, the only insurer I found who would beat directline was churchill, and then only by a pound. not worth the hassle of changing for that.

for me, directline have always been the cheapest by a country mile, but then my insurance has always been expensive. I'm currently on my second year of premiums being under £800.

PS. I live in the centre of manchester, see...

Look for Value For Money.

Cheapest isn't always the best option.

Look at the cover in light of want you want, i.e excess, legal cover, eu cover, replacement car........

What are they like to deal with if you need to claim, some unpleasant experience related on this forum.
