Not sure if its to anyones liking on here but ever since I was young I've grown up working on, restoring and modifying cars at weekends and nights but I came across this and I'm just stunned as to how immaculate it is. To own a car like this would be a dream come true for me and yes... its a ford :P I've always loved the RS 3 doors and this is just immaculate

The condition of this car is amazing

that is some serious dedication

What an amazing looking car:rock:

That is some rebuild.

Blue badge or no Blue badge. That is one hell of a car.

Now that is what I call a full bare metal respray. The only other car I have personally seen that well looked after and used, was once again another Ford. The Mk 1 Lotus Cortina. I was in awe of the time and dedication spent on preparing the bare shell just simply getting it prepared for the respray.

Sad that the Sierra is having to be sold and even sadder that it failed to reach the reserve.

Respect to the owner and thank you for sharing the pictures of a Devon registered vehicle :)

Regards,
John the envious

I have to agree, some dedication.

But, once a Sierra, always a Sierra. Sorry.
:)

Tilly, I take my hat off, to the guy who rebuilt it. This is just awesome. Must have cost a fortune. Nice pics too.

Oh wow tht is amazing. I've always loved the RS500. The "405 BHP" on the wings is a fantastic touch as well. Lots of old memories like the passenger upper storage covered up when ABS was fitted. The Sierra mustn't die! :D!

Did you notice the tea-towell on the jack to stop the diffy-wiffy from getting scratchy-watchy..........

I was amased at everything mechanical being so clean and new but the whole car was spoilt for me when it came to the interior shots and I was reminded that at the end of the day the car was just a ford with no charm, character, or particular worth really.

With all the time and money spent on the exterior - IMO he was mad not to throw away the entire enterior and make it into a rally car spec with full on rollbar and bucket seats etc etc.

As it stands, I just think the owner hasn't finished the job off.

Seems a bit daft putting 400 bhp into a car that will never go over 10mph for fear of stone chips!

Also, for the sake fo pedantry; it ain't concours, regardless of what he says. To be concours, a car needs to be original. This Sierra would lose points all over the place. I agree, it's a nice job though.

A friend once lost ten points in a concours because his plug leads were red, whereas the car came off the line with green ones.

I can see what you mean but to me the cars do have charm both inside and out and one hell of a heritage and this is why I have so much respect for them. The old school Ford RS's have had such a history in rallying and I tend to find that RS drivers are amongst the greatest motoring enthusiasts in the world.

For example Martin Hadland at Reyland racing. I mean... what a spirit! to take a car like an escort cosworth and enter the gumball rally with a car modified to such a high caliber and put it head to head with the worlds most prestigeous sports cars, to have an accident in a car and writing it off that cost nearly a quarter of a million pounds in modifications to something that started off life as a £15k-ish escort cosworth to then go and rebuild the car to a higher specification ready to reenter the next time round.... That to me is dedeication and a love of motoring. How many people can go out and buy or finance a ferrari? Quite a lot. Withing reason, money permitting anyone can go out and buy a ferrari but how many of them would have the balls, knowledge, patience and ambition to take a car like the escort cosworth and put the effort, money and graft into making it such a monster? I have the upmost respect for the guy. Another example is Andy Rouse, not only competed in these cars to great sucess in road rally events but also tuned them himself, it wasn't just handed to him on a plate by a WRC team of boffins who do it all for him. Now I know this happens in any marque, but to the extent of the RS's... It's very rarely seen, in my eyes these cars are amazing in every way, shape and form

I believe there are actually different classes in the concours events that actually allow the modifications and as for a car never going over 10mph, oh it does ;) its not a trailer posing car, it does see its fair share of use :)

OK, well if it gets used, then I admire it even more :)

I said I was a pedant, and I stand by that. It may get very high points in judging, but just because the organisers call it a concours event, doesn't make it one.

I'm not trying to take anything away from the car or the work that's gone into it, I'm just saying, that's all.

Yes I understand what you mean but its like anything nowadays, most things have branched out and now take a wider range of things into perspective. I don't know exactly how they judge cars with such variation in engine and chassis specs but to me. I do personally like to see the modifications as opposed to a standard car within reason. To me it shows more imagination and a thirst for power and a love of motoring. It's like with AMG's as much as I love the cars and you guys will hate me for this, If money was no object I would consider something like an escort gartrack 4x4 conversion and build it up to my own spec, chassis and enginewise as I just love a challenge, something individual that I can build up myself that will really turn heads over a standard car. I'm making a really bad job of trying to explain what I mean here! :o

I don't know about you guys, but I like it! :D

But then I used to live in Essex, maybe it's the Essex coming out in me :D

Where did I read that a poor chap came second because during the judging a spider had climbed onto his grill and started work on a web!

Very impressive piece of work but have to admit that I laughed out loud when, after seeing all that dedication put in to restoring the car, you then see a picture of a "barry" ford sierra sat on the street.
Also hilarious reading the rest of the thread.
I am obviously on another planet to these blingmeisters.

Each to their own.......

Excellent - but how long before it gets nicked???
