Hi all,
Well it happened, gust of wind with the drivers side door open and a loud clunk. Door wouldn't close properly so I forced it, now the door shuts (just about) and the window doesn't work, so I'm guessing I've damaged the window mechanism by forcing the door shut. Anyway I've been looking into replacing the door check strap and getting the door card off so I can maybe fix it but it all seems a bit too much!
I'm wondering what kind of garage would look at this for me, as I'm sure most of them will have no experience of this on a clk320 w208, anyone in the Birmingham area know of anywhere that might do?

Long shot...

Thanks Ed

There is nothing too difficult about taking a door card off really. A couple of screw drivers and trim pliers and being methodical but if you would rather have someone take a look, browse here Mercedes specialists across the UK - MBClub UK - Bringing together Mercedes Enthusiasts

Edit: If you were going to do it yourself, arm yourself with some trim clips because chances are, one or two may break.

Thanks, just found a garage that is literally 2mins from my work!

help

Hi you will find the 2 lugs on front of the check strap are broken off and also the pin that retains it to the door . So when you shut the door all the check strap is going inside the door damaging the window lift chanel.Only thing holding it in there is the fixing pivot on the body panel
