Door Check Strap

As the above title suggests the strap has come off from inside the drivers door making a horrible creaking sound everytime it is opened. Can someone please tell me if tis a case of stripping down the door and tightning some bolts or do i need a new bracket? Thanks.

New check strap is needed I suspect. Remember they come unpainted.

I got the main dealer to replace the check strap on my R129 recently ... was about £80 all in IIRC (with 'old car' discount).

Check strap is about £15. I would think the R129 one is the same as a W124 one

The only tough thing about fitting them is driving out the hinge pin. They can be a little tight. A long drift and a hammer with a small head are needed. It also helps to remove the retaining clip at the bottom of the pin before starting...
