I picked my car up from the shop today after having new engine mounts fitted and one of the knuckle draggers has chipped the paint on the edge of the drivers door! :wallbash: Well pee'd off I am! Anyway, I've touched the chip in and it's hardly noticable now but you know how it is, I KNOW IT'S THERE and my eye will be forever drawn to it! To avoid this thing from happening again (obvisously change my garage!) I was thinking of fitting door edge protectors. Has any one else got them? I've seen them in black and clear but just wondered how noticable they are once fitted to the car.

Thanks

They hold grit and dirt nicely , and do a lovely job of sanding a strip off your door edge.

Personal opinion is that they look tacky, sort of thing you'd seen on a cheap supermini. I think this kind of solution is worse than what you're trying to prevent.

As above just dont. Howard and Mocas are spot on.

I wonder if 3M do a film for this sort of application.

I'm just guessing that it would do the job without being noticeable.

might be worthwhile putting a pair on if you have to leave the car with any more "knuckle draggers" :dk: and then taking them back off again

The W168 A class has a stone chip clear 3M sticker on the lead edge of the rear arch. You may be about to cut a couple of straight sections from one and use them to protect the door edging. Just an idea
:)

I bought a set of clear door protectors, but decided that they would look so out of place. they are still in my glove box. I will give them as a wedding present to someone... "What?"
