Help Please

I have just a bought a W124 E300te 4matic estate. Lovely.

Plenty of bits will need some attention. The immediate issue that I have is the rear drivers door does not always want to open. This looks to be the check strap that is seized. Does anybody know how easy or difficult is it is to get at this and free it up?

Cheers

Bruce

Hi, there are 2 bolts in the side of the door, a c-clip and pin on the car itself, and one more bolt behind the door card. You can change them in 10 minutes if your fast.

In my experience just fit a new unit. Once they playup they always need replacing, usally the large spring makes a bid for freedom first and jams them up.

Thank you. Would you know if these are mortgabale replacements or are they in the financial reach of oiks like me? Do I need to remove the door card?

Thanks again for our help.

I think they're still £15 each. Change it asap - if it fails when the door is closed it can be lots of fun getting the door open. And sometimes they fail, you close the door and the checkstrap destroys the window channel inside the door

Have a look round the other doors - you'll frequently find the mounting bolts are loose

Many thanks.

Loving the car. Drive is so smooth. Looking down that bonnet is just great. Puts smile on my face. Now I need a metallic green bonnet.

Thanks again for the fast reply's
